Achieving SDG 4,5,& 10 is our Main Goal
Explore What’s Out There (Explore WOT) is a student led campaign that has a mission to make astronomy and cosmology education as accessible and engaging as other subjects in STEM. More so amongst young girls and in under-represented communities specially govt. schools, where students have traditionally been discouraged due to lack of opportunities and role models in science or space education.
Inspired to transform my love for stars and cosmos into making astronomy and space education accessible for high school students, I started this programme in 2021 , during COVID, to foster love for our universe in my peers and juniors amidst a highly pessimistic environment such as the pandemic.

The Explore WoT team visits schools, usually in partnerships with school’s Astronomy and other STEM or Innovation clubs, with telescopes and offers astronomy and cosmology lessons, and organizes stargazing sessions. The idea is to showcase how in times of darkness, such as the one we faced during the pandemic, the human spirit can find light and inspiration in the cosmos to further equality in access to education.

Beyond Space Observership, and More
Explore WoT team shares a common passion for everything out there, stars, black holes, planets, etc. and leverages the proven ability of astronomy to promote, support, and create STEM education programs. Our programs are tailored designed by students to help assist and encourage middle school and high school students, majorly girls, and in India’s rural, isolated, and underserved communities who lack representation and opportunities in STEM education. Such students, majorly young girls, are often discouraged by the lack of opportunities and role models in STEM in general and Astronomy in specific. A self- perpetuating cycle thus is ensued – the lack of opportunity in these fields results in less STEM in marginalized communities, and less opportunity for STEM careers over the years.
But we at Explore WoT believe that astronomy programs touch on all STEM fields and can be created in all communities. Having been fortunate to access and investigate research in Astronomy and Astrophysics and Cosmology, working under the tutelage of ex-NASA educators and IIT scientists, the Explore WoT team supports the sustainability and expansion of foundational Astronomycurriculum in middle and high schools. From all the research we are exposed to, we create new programs from existing resources. Then we distribute these resources (including volunteer expertise) to the robust but marginalised student community in under-represented parts of India.
